A Video Novel for Winnipeg

Summer Institute Artist Residency, Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art, Winnipeg MB, 2013

A video novel is a small series of video loops that feature stuttering contemplations of space, movement, landscape and permanence. I have conceived the video novel as a multi-channel video installation that features a study of social and physical landscapes. In May 2013 I participated in a one month residency at the University of Windsor where we created the first experimentations and tests in the video and audio techniques of a Video Novel. In July of 2013 I also participated in a one month residency called the Summer Institute at Plug In Institute for Contemporary Art in Winnipeg Manitoba and installed A Video Novel for Winnipeg. Both of these residencies allowed for the opportunity to develop the concepts and intentions of the video novel project which is to expand it in as many cities, towns and communities in Canada, creating a broad video and audio based document of Canada.

A Video Novel for Winnipeg was developed while in residency at the Plug In Institute for Contemporary Art in 2013.
